This is a lovely circuit of Lake Easton that will hopefully include some brilliant fall colors. The walk begins in Lake Easton State Park on park trails which can be narrow and have some roots, but are basically flat. You exit the park and walk through the tiny commercial district of Easton, Washington on a wide road shoulder and sidewalks. You next get on the Palouse to Cascades rail trail on the east side of Easton and it loops around Lake Easton, going through a short tunnel (lights not required) and over a bridge before turning right to return to the state park. The walk is pretty flat and, other than some trails in the state park, the surfaces are wide and smooth. The 5K option will go the opposite direction around the circuit to the bridge and back.
Enjoy a Fall bike on the Palouse to Cascades rails-to-trails bike path! This is a dedicated bike trail with no cars (though you can encounter walkers). You will bike about a mile from the start point to the rails-to-trails - a short distance on park roads and then on a wide dirt forest trail. Once you reach the rails-to-trails, you can go left (towards Cle Elum) or right (towards Snoqualmie Pass). The grade is never particularly steep, but it is more uphill leading towards the pass. The surface of the trail is dirt and gravel. Thin racing bike tires are not recommended. You will go out to a distance of your choosing and then turn around and return to the start table the way you came. This is a beautiful bike trail. Trail rating varies from 1B to 2B, depending on area you are biking.
