Excelsior Pass
It's not the lakes you come here for, it's the pleasant ramble through the meadows and the awesome view at the turn-around point. Rating: 3C |
Chain Lakes Loop
This is the one! Views of Mounts Baker and Shuksan, as well as the North Cascades, alpine lakes for swimming, and well-maintained trail winding through meadows of wild flowers and heather; everything you expect from premier northwestern hiking trails. Rating: 3C |
Heather Meadows Ramble
This beauty of a hike starts at the Mt. Baker ranger station, allowing you to orient yourself to the area, learn something from the rangers, and shop for books, snacks and souvenirs. Then hike through a rugged gorge right next to a rushing mountain river. Rating: 3C |
