Sherman Loop Trail South with options to Snow Peak Cabin, Snow peak and Sherman Peak
Start Location: Mail Registration Only.
The Trail: This national recreation trail traverses the spine of the high Kettle River Mountain Range, one of Washington’s finest long-distance trails. There is no shortage of panoramic views and sprawling tracts of gorgeous wildflowers. However, water is at a premium, so carry plenty.
Distance/Rating: 10 Km (5.8 miles) 900 feet elevation gain, rated 2C; or
15 km (9.3 miles), 900 feet elevation gain, rated 2C.
19 Km (11.8 miles), rated 3D. Add 2 Km for each peak (Sherman Peak and Snow Peak, both off trail)

Kettle Crest Trail North with options to Columbia Mountain Cabin or Wapaloosie Mountain

The Columbia Mountain Trail: The trailhead launches walkers toward the tops of rolling mountains and the flowered meadows of the Colville National Forest’s largest roadless area. After a brief circuit just below the summit, take the 1/2 mile trail to the cabin and astonishing views of wave upon wave of mountain summits.
Distance/Ratings: 7 Km (4.3 miles), 500 feet elevation gain, rated 2C; 12 Km (7.4 miles), 1,207 feet elevation gain for Columbia Mountain, rated 2C;
Wapaloosie Mountain Trail: Same start but bypass the cutoff for Columbia Mountain and continue on to another summit. Wapaloosie offers extensive views and some of the finest alpine meadows in eastern Washington. The trail passes sagebrush and rock formations plus mountain springs and forests as you reach the often sun baked peak of Wapaloosie Mountain. Bring bug spray and sun screen! EXTREME II scores: 2.7 + 1.4 = 4.1
